A bright sunny but chill day at Burhill awaited the competitors in the Southern Regional Final of the Championship. The whole day was excellent, made by a demanding course and good catering. All competitors commented on the quality of the greens and enjoyed terrific camaraderie of the format.
The player to hit the Straightest drive was David Ogram of Old Mid Whitgiftian RFC. Nearest the Pin was won by John Mark Alexander of Cobham RFC. The top scoring pair were Martin Blake and Garry Gordon of East Grinsted RFC with a terrific 47 points.
Third place was claimed by Beckenham RFC with 77 points on a countback from Old Mid Whitgiftians RFC, who also qualify for the National Final. Second prize went to Feltham RFC with 78 points who won Wooden Spoon feather bags and 2 RAM balls & tees for their club. The winners were East Grinsted RFC with 86 points. Messrs Prince, Blake, Blake & Gordon went home with 3 RAM match balls & tees for their club and Wooden Spoon’s new Callaway sports bag each for themselves.
